In this Article we will know how to install Arduino IDE into your PC/Laptop. Its very easy and we have made it more easy for you by making this article which will guide you to Install Arduino IDE without any problem. Some people might face some problem after installation of Arduino IDE, do not worry I am here to help you out. Comment down if you face any problem.
Before we begin the steps to installation let me introduce to Arduino IDE.
What is Arduino IDE?
Arduino IDE is an Integrated Development Environment for programming the Arduino and many other boards in a very simple manner. It is made simple so that anyone having ZERO experience in programming can also program the Arduino and use it as they want into their projects.
You can tell your Arduino what to do by writing code in the Arduino programming language and using the Arduino development environment.
What is This Integrated Development Environment
An integrated development environment (IDE) is a software application that provides comprehensive facilities to computer programmers for software development. An IDE normally consists of at least a source code editor, build automation tools and a debugger. So we can say Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is a program having everything packed under single unit to program anything without worrying about where to write, how to compile, where to debug, etc.
Is it necessary to use this IDE?
If you have ever programmed any intel 8085 microprocessor before then you must have experienced the diffucilty in programming those CPUs. They have to be programmed in special instruction known as Opcode. Opcode is combination of hexadecimal values used to program the CPU. These Opcode need to memorised or you have look the instruction set and program it. So it is very difficult for a normal user to program any microprocessor. If you are interested here are some Opcode of 8085 microprocessor (the code shown in bold is needed to be remembered to program to add/subtract two number) this shows code only to add and subtract there are many more. .
Sr. No. Mnemonics, Operand Opcode
1 ACI Data CE2 ADC A 8F
3 ADC B 88
4 SUB A 97
5 SUB B 90
6 ANA A A7 and many more
But do not worry you do not have to memories anything. Thanks to Arduino IDE for making these programming steps so easy for users.
You just have to remember some syntax which are easily remembered as they are in normal english language like delay() for making delay, digitalWrite() to write digital data etc. they are easy to memorise and aslo you do not need to memorise everything and I will say nothing as you will make projects you will automatically remeber them there is no need to learn them.
We will talk about the programming part later in some other article, but now lets install this Arduino IDE.
Steps to install Arduino IDE
So lets begin step by step to Installation of our programming IDE i.e Arduino IDE
Step 1
Open Google into your PC / Laptop and type Arduino and click on search or press enter to search
Step 2
Find Arduino Home Link and click on it. This will take you to the home page of Arduino website
Step 3
On the Arduino homepage click software tab the click download option as shown in the picture. This will take you to the Arduino Software Downloading page.
Step 4
Now from the red box shown select the required installer which suits you. i.e If you have windows operating system choose the shown, if mac choose mac link, if Linux choose Linux link. This will take you to final download page.
Download the latest version from this download page. You can choose between the Installer (.exe) and the Zip packages. I will suggest you use the first one that installs directly everything you need to use the Arduino Software (IDE), including the drivers.
Because with zip pack you get the installed files but the Arduino board drivers are not included so you have to do that manually. The Zip file is also useful if you want to create a portable installation.
Step 5
This is the download page click on Just download to start downloading navigate to the folder where your downloads files go. If you are willing you can donate as they are open source and relay on donations and contributions.
Step 6
From the downloads folder run the installer by double clicking on it to start the installation.
Step 7
After the installation is started it click on I Agree to agree its terms and conditions.
Step 8
Now this shows the list of components to be installed do not change any settings here just click on next
Step 9
On this page it will ask you the path where this program will install, leave it unchanged and just click on Install
Step 10
Now to Installation and file copying will start if you want to see what is happening behind the scene click on show details
Step 11
This will take some time be patient and wait. Meanwhile it may prompt you to install some board driver like USB Driver software for different types of Arduino Boards. Accept all of them and click on Install.
Step 12
This is the prompt you will see this is for Various Arduino Board Driver check the Always trust software checkbox then click on Install button.
Step 13
Wait for some time until completed is not shown on the top. After it show completed click close button. Congratulations You have Installed Arduino into your PC/Laptop
Step 14
Now from start search for Arduino and click to open it
Step 15
It will take some moment to launch the IDE meanwhile it loads various installed libraries and boards.
Step 16
If in case firewall blocks the JAVA (because Arduino Runs on JAVA platform) then click on Allow Access to start Arduino IDE
Step 17
Here is what Arduino IDE looks like. Finally you have managed to install Arduino into your machine. Congratulations….
This is the IDE which is going to solve all your problem, it will simplify the way we program micro controller and microprocessor.
It makes every concept very simple and also lets you visualize the things which are happening inside your microcontroller which will help you to debug any error you do while programming.
How did you like this post. Was it informative, Did you understood all the points, What problem you faced during reading this article. Do you have any doubts or any query…
Comment Down each and everything I am eager to hear from you.
In the next article we will look and understand each and every components of Arduino IDE and how to use it. Till then KEEP LEARNING
