Hey folks whats up. Are you enjoying this series on Internet of Things? In this article we will introduce you about Breadboard and Jumper Wires. Since Breadboard and jumper wires are generally used in IoT projects so knowing about them will be beneficial for you.
What is Breadboard?
Breadboard is a construction base made up of plastic for connecting different electronics and jumper wires.
Why we use Breadboard?
Because we are in a learning phase and we are not very rich that for each and every project we can afford a separate Arduino, sensors, motors, and display devices and solder them permanently to construct a project. So due to limitations we reuse our each components in every project while learning. Hence we use solder-less breadboard to easily connect our two or more hardware with each other without soldering, temporarily. But the connection is good and reliable. Hence it is popular among students and hobbyist.
Know your Breadboard
There are three types of breadboard in the market which are popular now.
Large Terminal and Bus Strip Breadboard
This breadboard have 2 strips of 63 central rows having 5 holes in each row, the five rows in each set are (a,b,c,d,e) and (f,g,h,i,j), each row in 63 rows have abcde connected together and fghij connected together. And two bus of 63 rows of single hole one is blue one is red as shown. All red 63 holes are connected together and all blue are connected together. We generally use this red and blue column for connecting power like +ve and -ve to different components.
See the base of this breadboard for clear the above points.
Now everything might be clear now.
Similarly there are other to type of Breadboard generally used
Medium Terminal and Bus Strip Breadboard
This breadboard is similar to above one but have less number of rows. This breadboard have only 30 rows and the connections are similar to the above large breadboard.
Medium Terminal Breadboard
This type of breadboard is generally used for mini projects and the looks is also cute. This breadboard have only Terminal Connections there is no Bus connection as there was in above two breadboard for the power. But it is good looking.
Now lets learn something about Jumper wire.
What is Jumper Wire?
Jumper Wire is a piece of wire which have special connector or pin at each end of the wire. With this wire we can easily connect different devices and sensors together or by using breadboard. These wires help in solder-less connection for learning purpose. Hence they are very useful in our projects make sure you have some.
I will give a link to purchase one.
Types of Jumpers
MALE to MALE
This type of jumper are the wire which have pointed pin on the both side.
MALE to FEMALE
This type of jumper are the wire which have pointed pin on one side and hole pin on the other side.
FEMALE to FEMALE
This type of jumper are the wire which have hole pin on the both side.
So today in this article we got to know a lot of things about Breadboard and Jumpers. In our upcoming articles you will be making your next IoT project of controlling Row of LED's and many more so stay tuned, keep visiting
